As I reflect on Memorial Day weekend, I think about my grandfather, who served in the 42nd Rainbow Division as a Sergeant in the 258th Field Artillery Regiment. When I was growing up, my grandfather used to tell me stories about training his platoon during weekends during the early 1960s. As I wear his jacket, I feel great pride and joy, knowing he's always by my side. This Memorial Day weekend, I would like to thank all the men and women who sacrificed so much for us. Without you, we wouldn't be here. Grandpa, I think of you every day. You have your wings. Your love and loss are felt deeply by me.
